MyArcana is a free astrology site. You can calculate a natal chart, a destiny matrix, a compatibility matrix, and an astrocartography map, check today's moon phase, or read a daily moon horoscope. There's also a wiki on planets, zodiac signs, houses, tarot arcana, and astrocartography lines, plus a growing collection of articles.

None of the calculators require an account to see your basic result.

Who Runs This Site

MyArcana is built and maintained by a small independent team. This isn't a site where we wired up an AI and called it astrology. The calculators are our own — the calculation engines, the scoring logic, and the interpretation frameworks were all built and refined by hand, and we've been sharpening them since the start of 2025.

Getting the accuracy right has been the hard part, and the part we care about most. We read our way through dozens of books and primary sources, ran the numbers across thousands of test charts, and checked our output point by point against every major professional astrology calculator until the results lined up consistently. For the interpretive side, we cross-referenced established astrological literature with how experienced practitioners actually read a chart — including long-running discussions on Reddit and dedicated astrology forums — rather than leaning on any single source.

The site runs on ad revenue (Google AdSense) — that's what pays for hosting and keeps every tool free, with no subscription.

How the Calculations Work

Planet Positions

We calculate planet positions with the Swiss Ephemeris, the same astronomical library used by most professional astrology software. Enter your birth date, time, and place, and we compute where the Sun, Moon, planets, and key points (Ascendant, Midheaven, Lunar Nodes, Lilith, Chiron) were at that exact moment.

House System

Placidus is the default house system, since it's the most widely used in Western astrology. You can switch to Whole Sign or another supported system, change aspect orbs, or add asteroids and fixed points in each calculator's advanced settings. For extreme latitudes where Placidus can't resolve, we fall back through Koch, Regiomontanus, Campanus, and Equal House so you still get a valid chart.

Dominant Planets and Elements

A chart is more than a list of positions, so we score each one for its dominant planets and elements using a weighted system: essential dignity (rulership, exaltation, fall, detriment), angular placement, closeness to the Ascendant and Midheaven, chart rulership, and the full network of aspects a planet forms. We tuned these weights against how leading calculators emphasize the same charts, so what stands out reflects the whole chart rather than just the Sun sign.

What Affects Accuracy

Your exact birth time matters. Without it, we can still tell you the planets' signs, but the Ascendant, Midheaven, and house cusps won't be reliable — those need a precise time to calculate.

Chart Interpretations

The astrological meaning behind a placement, an arcana, or a matrix energy is ours — drawn from the research above, not invented by a model. AI comes in only after that work is done: it turns our material into clear, readable text, keeps the tone consistent across the site, and enforces the strict rules we set for sensitive YMYL topics like health, money, and legal matters. We use language models from Anthropic (Claude) and Google (Gemini) for this editing and safety layer only. Treat any reading as a starting point for reflection, not as professional advice.

Wiki and Articles

Wiki entries and blog articles follow the same principle: the substance is researched and structured by us, AI helps draft and polish the wording, and everything is reviewed before it's published. Versions in languages other than the original are produced by AI translation, so some pages may read slightly less naturally than the source.

Your Data
