Planets in Astrology
Find out how planets affect your character, destiny, and life events. A detailed description of each planet in your birth chart with examples and interpretations.
In this section, we're lookin' at the planets. Now, while the Sun and Moon are traditionally called luminaries, most astrologers, for simplicity's sake, lump 'em in with the planets, along with Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. These celestial bodies are in every horoscope and have a significant impact on a person's life.
Even though the planets orbit the Sun (and the Moon orbits Earth), in astrology, their position is determined relative to Earth.
Each planet is strongest in the Zodiac sign it rules – that's its "residence" or ruling sign. There's also the sign of exaltation, where it expresses itself most harmoniously, the sign of detriment – opposite to the ruling sign, and the sign of fall – opposite to the sign of exaltation.
